Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on that part of the island of Montreal named the West Island. Most people do not know about the definition of the word and believe it's a separate Island west of Montreal. Actually, the West Island includes the entire region from Lachine up to the west. Many times, it is regarded as the place where Amanda Brugel was born. Amanda Brugel, but while it's true, her stay there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa. Her first ambition was to become a professional dancer however, her growth spurt led to that she was able to outgrow her dance partners. According to an article by the Toronto Star, she confessed, "In heels I am 6 feet 1 inches." Once I had outgrown my male companions and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the support of a drama teacher at her high school that pushed her to pursue the career path she was looking for. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the annual school production. After trying out, she ended up as the leading lady for the role of Rita in Anne of Green Gables. The show was a recipient of the Fine Arts Talent scholarship at York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 2000.
